For our efforts for responding to important social issues, see "Social Performance".
Financial Highlights
While we faced severe situations including financial problems in Europe, floods in Thailand and shrinking domestic market, demands from automobile industries have recovered rapidly from the drop caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011. Demands for electronic materials including products for smartphones and tablets also have expanded. While metal prices remained high in the commodity market, the yen remained high in the exchange market.
Under such circumstances we have been striving to continue business on a stable basis, including reconstruction of production bases in Japan that were affected by the earthquake and responding to anticipated summer power shortage. We have also been promoting business deployment into Asia actively and responding agilely to the changing business environments. As a result we managed to keep consolidated recurring profits only by 10% less than the previous year, amounting to 20.9 billion yen.
